Our woodland is renowned for its Trillium, recognizable by their three leaves and three petals. Our Trillium collection is the most extensive in New England and includes 21 species, three of which are native to the region: nodding trillium, white trillium, and red trillium. Many of our white trilliums are situated next to the stone oval. These shade-loving early bloomers can take up to seven years to grow from seed to mature flowering plant. In the wild, they face shrinking habitats, deer pressure and unethical collection for the nursery trade. We’re committed to maintaining a collection of healthy, genetically diverse trillium species. See how many you can spot on your way to the Lily Pond!
